So you really wanna know?

This is my OPINION! I want to lay that out on the line. This is not a factual statement (of course, most of this blog isn't.) You can take this or leave it, but I feel that I must clear up my belief on this for all of you.

So, the difference between a Yankee and a Northerner.

If you have read yesterday's post, you probably took note of the fact that I compared this latest developing boom in Florida to The War Between the States, and called it an "invasion."

This, in my opinion, is the fundamental difference between a Yankee and a Northerner.

A Yankee is someone who invades a land with the express purpose of taking advantage of it for their own personal gain (I am NOT referring to Iraq here, by the way.)
A Yankee is someone who comes to a land and tries to change things, to mold them into how things were where they came from, with complete disregard for the inhabitants of that land.

A Northerner is somebody who had the misfortune of not being born in the South. They are a person who respects others, who works hard, and who does not take advantage of others. Basically, they're Crackers without the good food, the....no, scratch that....they're not even close to Crackers...but they're pretty dang good!!

Abraham Lincoln was a Yankee.
Ted Kennedy is a Yankee.
Bruce Maguire (former St. Johns County commissioner) is a Yankee.
Unfortunately, it's the Yankees who control most of the power in this nation. People like developers...

Paintsmh, you are a Northerner.
My sister-in-law is a Northerner.
Ya'll are not Yankees.
I can sense in both of you a respect for others and a hardworking spirit.
And that is a BIG complement.

That, in MY OPINION, is the difference between a Yankee and a Northerner. Take it or leave it :-D

Thank you all for reading,
And I love you for taking the time to read my ramblings...
No matter how wrong or screwed up they may be :-D

Aww, I get to be a northerner. I feel so special. Does this mean that if I should ever decide to visit Florida you will call off all of the gators, snakes and such that you are filling that moat with? And my mom, aka threecollie, would like to know if she is a northerner or a yankee. I told her if I was a northerner, she was a northerner, but she doesn't believe me.
Oh, and we all got a pretty good laugh at this one. Such a good post.

My sister pointed out that it is probably a very good thing we don't qualify as yankees, seeing as we don't even like the team. I think it was an attempt at humor that fell a bit, um, flat.

ahh paint, I really enjoy reading your mom's blog. I supposed I would call off the gators, but them water moccassins don't really listen too well...so watch your back!

Ugh, don't get me started on the New York "Bankees."

Yah, trust me, we do NOT like the Yankees either. We are of the group who applies to the 'We like two teams. The Mets, and anyone who beats the yankees". So don't like those guys. I tend to want to throw things at the tv when they are playing.

throwing things at the TV...sounds familiar...I often do that to politicians :-D

Lincoln?
Sherman definitely, but Lincoln?
I know, I know read the first paragraph FC.
heehee.

FC, I think Sherman falls more into the category of "Spawn of Satan..." But that's just me.

I don't waste my energy on politicians. I just vote against the ones I don't like. Getting older does, in some cases, have its advantages.

paint - I don't like ANY of them. I will vote the same way you do in 2008. Politics is a dirty game.
